Mecox Bay Estate - Main Residence
Client: Private
Location: Water Mill, New York
Completed: Phase 1 - July 2018; Phase 2 - May 2019
Role: Junior Project Manager
MR Architecture was responsible for the interior architecture and furnishing of a multi-dwelling estate that overlooks Mecox Bay. The Main Residence is a historic Georgian-style house, originally built in 1904 by architect W.E. Brady.
Phase I of construction included the gut renovation of the Main Residence, new construction of a Pool House and accompanying Changing Rooms.
Phase II resulted in the full gut renovation of the Main Guest House, select updates/additions of the staff, security, and guest houses (primarily in the bathrooms), as well as a proposal to re-outfit the historical windmill tower that fronts the Main Residence.
I was brought on as a Junior Project Manager to help during the construction of Phase I. I attended weekly site visits and coordinated with the General Contractor to ensure the design documents that the MR team produced were executed properly. I reviewed submittals, responded to RFIs, and developed construction sketches to adjust for site conditions.
During Phase II, I led team members in the completion of the bid sets for Guest, Staff, and Security houses, as well as the historic windmill tower. I also continued to attend weekly site visits and acted as point person for any and all questions during the construction phase of all structures.
