Upper East Side Apartment

Client: Private

Location: Upper East Side, New York City

Completed: September 2016

Size: 2800 SF

Role: Junior Project Manager

This 3-bedroom apartment serves as the primary residence of a family comprising of a lovely couple with two young girls and a dog.

The overall palette features sophisticated textures and accent colors coupled with contemporary furniture to bring together a design that balances classic elements while keeping up with a fresh modern lifestyle.

An open layout activates the expansive view from the apartment, while allowing for close family interactions even whilst doing varying tasks. Soft-toned woods gives classic millwork lines new life. Timeless elegance is achieved through the collaboration of these elements.

While at Grade Design, Inc., I was brought on during Design Development to assist in the designing of custom millwork with metal frame details that are repeated throughout the apartment in different scales, unexpected design elements such as the entry foyer floor, and the creation of the building, permit, and construction sets. I engaged with the clients for the development of fully customized closets, down to the velvet covered jewelry trays in their safe, attended site visits and answered RFI’s under the guidance of the lead Project Architect during construction.

To add contrast to a highly decorative Upper East Side master bedroom, the firm designed a decidedly pared-down master bath... “Very simple, but chic,” remarks Taft-Gersten. “It’s seamless, meditative, and beautiful,” adds Weitzner.
