MoMA PS1

Exhibition: Mike Kelley

Service: Installation & Building Operations

Location: Queens, New York

Opened: October 2013

During the summer/fall months of 2013, I participated as an intern in the installation and showing of the largest Mike Kelley retrospective to date at the famed nonprofit arts center, MoMA PS1. While there, I was exposed to the techniques of professional art handling.

Once the exhibit was open to the public, I performed daily gallery operations, such as hanging lights, painting gallery walls, and monitoring proper humidity levels within the galleries.

I also coordinated with the Visitor Services and Curation departments to ensure proper gallery experiences by quickly resolving exhibit complications including troubleshooting audio and visual exhibits.

It was a unique experience that helped me understand not only how an exhibition is navigated from a design standpoint, but how one can be successfully maintained from a usage standpoint.
