Chanel was another repeat client while I was a member of the Retail Studio at Grade Design, Inc. The Chanel “stop-and-shop” build-outs were often on fast-track schedules and required weekly meetings with the brand designers.
While the Chanel brand already had a set aesthetic, as an architectural consultant, it was GRADE’s job to work out how to make their pre-existing fixtures work with real life site conditions, such as store layout, legal egress, and proper storage, without sacrificing the quality the brand is famed for.
This shop was located on the open floor of a department store in the Mall of Georgia. With a very limited footprint, the challenges faced were ensuring proper space around the fixtures, as well as maximizing space for back of house functions. To help maximize the space, the fixtures are laid out at a slight angle, which also doubled as visual interest, and eased flow in and out of the space.
